United Way 2009 - Vote for Event by FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9th
Each year we choose an event that our department can participate in for our annual United Way fundraiser. We'd like your input on choosing an event that you would be interested in doing. Listed below are past events that we've done and one new idea.
If you'd like to participate, please vote. Most popular vote will be announced after votes are talled.
Whichever event is choosen, we hope you will help make our fundraising effort a success.
PAST EVENTS HELD:
Bake Sale - How you can help: Bring in your baked goods or store bought goods on day of sale. Event Set up: Help make posters and post around building, set up tables, collect money during sale, purchase baked good.
Brown Bag Auction - Donated prizes are won by purchasing tickets and placing ticket in brown bag. Tickets are drawn for each prize at the end of the event.
How you can help: Donate new items for the auction. Past prizes included jewelry, gift certificates, tickets to Lights on the Lake, Entertainment coupon book, gift box sets (glassware, coffee mugs etc.),
Event Set up: Make posters and post around building, Set up tables, Collect money during sale, purchase tickets to win a prizes.
Chili Cookoff - How you can help:
Team up with your lab or office mates and cook up a batch of chili. All you need is your favorite recipe and a big crockpot. Customers can purchase samples and vote for their favorite. Help with table setup, serve samples and collect money. A variation of this could be a soup cookoff.
Gift Bag Giveaway How you can help:
Team up with your lab or co-workers and create a giftbag to auction off. Donated gift bags are won by purchasing tickets and placing ticket in a bag. Winning tickets pulled at end of event. This was our biggest past fundraiser event. Day of drawing - help set up tables to display giftbags, sell tickets. buy tickets.
NEW IDEA
Coin Collection. How you can help:
Donate your loose change and drop it in a Coin Jar we'll have set up in the office for a specified time.
