Major project: N Identification and analysis of genes required for meiotic heterochromatin assembly in C. elegans.   We have found that EGO-1/RdRP is required for heterochromatin assembly on unpaired chromosomes and chromosomal regions during meiosis.  Xing is working to identify additional proteins that are required for target histone silencing modifications to unpaired DNA.

Former Students:

Ying Liu
Ph.D. 2007

Ying successfully defended her doctoral dissertation "Genetic and molecular
analysis of ego-2 a positive regulator of Notch-type signaling in
Caenorhabditis elegans" on September 10, 2007. Ying is a postdoc
at Albert Einstein College this fall.
