Major project: N Identification and analysis of genes required for meiotic heterochromatin assembly in C. elegans. We have found that EGO-1/RdRP is required for heterochromatin assembly on unpaired chromosomes and chromosomal regions during meiosis. Xing is working to identify additional proteins that are required for target histone silencing modifications to unpaired DNA.
