SPECIAL RECOGNITION

A "Salute to Service Breakfast with the Chancellor was held at the Faculty Center on January 23, 2008. Faculty members and staff who had worked at Syracuse University for 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45 years were congratulated and received an embossed Tiffany plate as a gift. LarryWolf was recognized for 40 years of service. The 45 -year group consisted of Marvin Druger and John Lindberg (Mathematics). Lindberg retired in December, 2007. Marvin announced that he enjoyed being a "group." He also said: "I was afraid you would run out of gifts by the time you got to me." Marvin was given a standing ovation. He addressed the audience briefly. His last comment was: "Thanks for standing up and applauding. It made me feel like I was at a concert."

At the United Way Finale held on Mon.,
January 28, The Biology Department was recognized and received an award certificate
for First Place for our Gift Bag Giveaway.
Our event was a great success due to the participation and support of our department faculty, staff and students who put together wonderful gift bags, and sold and bought
tickets.
