These
curriculum requirements are ONLY for students who began their
studies in Biology BEFORE Fall 2002. If you began your Biology
studies in Fall 2002 or later, please go to the NEW curriculum

The
Biology Department offers four programs of undergraduate studies.
Please select from one of the following four Biology program options
for detailed program requirements:
- The
Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree
(55 to 57 total required credit hours) is designed for students
who wish to pursue graduate professional degrees in biology or
in the health professions.
- The
Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree
With Focus on Environmental
Science (65 to 67 total required credit hours) is an interdisciplinary
program designed for those interested in the application of biology
to a broad range of environmental problems.
- The
Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Degree
(45 to 46 total required credit hours) is designed for students
who wish to pursue science related careers outside biology and
for whom some background in science may be useful, such as science
journalism, business, or law.
- A
Minor in Biology (20 total
required credit hours) is designed for students who wish to augment
other majors such as psychology, engineering, chemistry, or illustration
with a biological component.

University documents takes priority in the event of conflict with
the information presented here.
Biochemistry
Degree Programs
Students
interested in a BS Degree in Biochemistry should contact Dr.
Laurence A. Nafie in the Department
of Chemistry, 1-014 Center for Science and Technology, telephone
315-443-4109, or their Biology Department Advisor about the Biochemistry
Degree Programs. There are two programs: One leads to a B.S. degree
in Biochemistry; the other leads to a B.S. Degree in Biochemistry
with Focus in Molecular Biology. Both programs involve taking Chemistry
and Biology courses. NOTE: Biology majors who plan to major in
these Biochemistry Degree Programs should change their major from
Biology to Biochemistry.
